Set up an app and competitor comparison in Compass Explore

You can choose a main app, add competitors, and control which apps appear in your comparison when you’re navigating in Explore.

Your selected app becomes the dashboard's main app. The competitors you add are shown next to it, so you can compare rankings, ratings, updates, creatives, ads, visibility, metadata, and app details in one place.

Search for an app

Start by choosing the app you want to analyze.

Open Explore.
Use the app search bar to search for an app.
Select the app you want to review.

The app you select becomes the main app for your Explore comparison. You can change the selected app at any time by using the search bar again.

Add competitors

After you select the main app, add the competitors you want to compare it with.

Select the + button in the competitor area.
Search for the competitor app you want to add.
Select the app.
Repeat these steps to add more competitors.

Explore may also suggest competitor apps that can improve your competitor list.

Note: Set it here, set it everywhere else. Changes made in the app header apply platform-wide across all tools. This action includes adding, removing competitors, creating cohorts and changing the competitor order.

Remove competitors

You can remove competitor apps when you no longer want to include them in the comparison.

Select the + button in the competitor area at the top part of the page.
Deselect the competitor apps you want to remove.

After you remove a competitor, it no longer appears in the selected comparison.

Create competitor cohorts

Competitor cohorts help you organize selected competitors into groups.

Open the All Competitors dropdown next to the country dropdown.
Select Add New.
Create the competitor cohort you want to use.

Use cohorts when you want to compare different groups of competitors without rebuilding your competitor list each time.

Choose which competitors appear

You can control which selected competitors are visible in the dashboard.

Go to the competitor display controls under the section navigation.
Select the competitors you want to show.
Deselect the competitors you want to hide.

Doing this changes what appears in the Explore sections without removing the competitors from your competitor list.

Change the competitor display order

You can adjust the order of competitors in the dashboard.

Go to the competitor display controls.
Use the selection controls to arrange the competitors in the order you want.

The order you choose affects how competitors appear across the Explore sections.

Select a storefront and country

Explore lets you review the comparison for a selected storefront and country.

Use the storefront selector to choose the app store you want to analyze.
Use the country dropdown to choose the country for the comparison.

The Explore dashboard updates based on your selected app, competitors, storefront, and country.
