Set conditions for an automation

Conditions are the “if” part of your automation. A condition always has:

  1. Metric (what you measure)
  2. Lookback window (which time range you evaluate)
  3. Comparison (how you compare the metric)
  4. Value (the number you compare against)

You can add multiple conditions and combine them with AND / OR.

Metric categories

Automations support conditions across five metric categories:

  • Apple metrics: Native Apple performance metrics such as impressions, taps, installs, Apple SOV, conversion rates.
  • MMP metrics: In-app conversion and cohort-based metrics coming from your MMP integration.
  • Custom metrics: Metrics you define for your own KPIs.
  • Organic performance metrics: Organic Rank and Keyword Popularity for keyword-level optimization.
  • Cryptocurrency & volatility index metrics: Crypto prices and volatility index signals, commonly used by Finance apps to react to market movement.

AND / OR operators

Use AND when all conditions must be true.
Use OR when any of the conditions can be true.

A simple pattern that stays easy to troubleshoot:

  • Start with 1–2 conditions.
  • Add more only when you’re sure each one is necessary.

Metric comparison types

You can compare:

  • A metric vs a previous period
    Example: “Last 3 days’ spend > 90% of last 7 days’ spend”
  • A metric vs another metric
    Example: “Campaign spend > 90% of daily budget”

Default mode vs Advanced mode

Automations conditions support two modes:

  • Default mode: Build conditions at the level you selected (campaign group, app, campaign, ad group).
  • Advanced mode: Build multi-layered conditions across levels. For example, in a keyword-level automation, you can include related campaign / ad group / campaign group metrics (like overall spend or CPI) to add context.

Lookback windows

Every condition needs a lookback window: the time range the automation evaluates. You can choose a preset timeframe or create a custom one.

If your automation is not triggering as expected, double-check both your lookback window and schedule settings in Set the schedule for an automation.

MMP metrics configuration (goal-related MMP metrics)

If you use goal-related MMP metrics, you configure both goal selection and attribution settings.

1) Goal selection

  • Choose a goal for each app at the selected level.
  • If no goal exists, the system guides you to create one.
  • If you don’t have a valid MMP integration, MMP metrics are not available.

2) Attribution settings

  • Attribution type: Default is Without re-attribution. You can switch to With re-attribution or Only re-attribution.
  • Attribution time: Default is Install Time. You can switch to Event Time.

Note: Cohort metrics are not supported under Event Time. If you switch to Event Time, any cohort-based conditions will be reset.

  • Claim type: Default is Tap-through. You can also choose View-through or Total attribution.
