How to create an AI Smart Bidding setup

This article shows you how to create an AI Smart Bidding setup in SearchAds.com and choose a target strategy (Target CPI, Target CPA, Target CPG, or Target ROAS).

Before you begin

  • To use AI Smart Bidding, you need access to Smart Bidding in your MobileAction CMP plan.
  • AI Smart Bidding can only be applied to campaigns and ad groups running search results ads.

Instructions

1. Go to MobileAction CMP > AI Smart Bidding.

2. Click Create New to start a new setup.

3. Enter a name for your setup so it’s easy to recognize later.

4. Choose the bidding strategy you want to optimize toward:

    • Target CPI
    • Target CPA
    • Target CPG
    • Target ROAS

5. Select where AI Smart Bidding should apply:
  • Campaign level, or
  • Ad Group level

6. Under Enter Target Value, complete the fields for your selected strategy:

Target CPA:

If you select Target CPA, AI Smart Bidding focuses on keeping your cost per acquisition aligned with your target.

  1. Enter a currency-based target value (for example, $10).
  2. Keep in mind that the currency is directly taken from the related campaign group.
  3. Use the last 28 days’ average value reference line to decide whether your target is realistic for the selected campaign(s) or ad group(s).

Target CPI:

If you select Target CPI, the setup includes extra choices that help define how installs are counted for the target.

  1. Enter your currency-based target value.
  2. Select attribution-related settings (such as re-attribution handling and attribution type).
  3. Use the last 28 days’ average value reference line as guidance.

Target CPG:

If you select Target CPG, the target is tied to a post-install event (your “goal”).

  1. Choose the items that define how the goal is measured (for example, the event you care about, how re-attribution is handled, and how timing is counted such as install time, along with the attribution type).
  2. Enter your currency-based target value.
  3. Use the last 28 days’ average value reference line as guidance.

Target ROAS:

If you select Target ROAS, you’ll set a return-based target instead of a cost-based one.

  1. Choose the measurement settings shown in the flow (such as event and attribution-related selections).
  2. Choose a ROAS window (for example, Goals ROAS 1, Goals ROAS 7, or Goals ROAS 14).
  3. Enter your target as a percentage (instead of a currency value).

Keep in mind!

For all target modes, when you click Next, SearchAds.com checks whether there’s enough recent performance data for AI Smart Bidding to start. If there isn’t, you’ll see a message letting you know it can’t start yet, and you can go back and adjust your selection without losing what you entered.
