On the Automations page, you'll see all of your previously created automations, their names, action types, labels (if any), and their creation dates. You can always add labels by clicking the small "+Add" button under the "Labels" column.

To begin with Automations 2.0, you have two choices: utilize one of the 20+ strategic templates provided by SearchAds.com tailored to your challenges and needs, or create your own automation rule from scratch.

Keep in mind:

  • You can modify the template to suit your needs; it doesn't have to be used as is.

  • Some templates are suitable for all four ad placements. In such cases, select the desired ad placement to proceed.

If you decide to create your own automation rule:

First of all, click the "Create Rule" button at the top right to create your own automation rule from scratch. On the next page, choose the ad placement to which you are applying your automation; you can create automations for all 4 ad placements on SearchAds.com. After that, decide on the automation level to which the rule will be applied; you can use the dropdown menus to make your choice.

Tip: If you decide to use or view the pre-made templates while in the creation steps, you can click on "Browse Templates".

Determine the condition that will trigger the automation, such as when your CPA falls below your desired threshold. You can select from various metrics and time frames, and enter the desired value. Additionally, you can decide whether to work with USD currency or a percentage based on your budget.

You can add new and/or conditions by pressing the blue "+" button or the "+Condition" and "+Group" buttons. At the end of each condition line, you can also compare, duplicate, or delete that condition.aa 2

In Automations, you can choose between Install Time and Event Time when setting up your rules, in the Attribution Settings section.

While Install Time is the default, using Event Time allows your automation conditions to trigger based on when the actual post-install event (like a purchase or registration) occurred, not just the install date. This helps you better align your automation logic with meaningful user actions.

Quick note: Some cohort metrics (like ROAS 7 or Event Count 30) are only available with Install Time. When you switch to Event Time, those metrics will be hidden to ensure consistency with attribution logic.

You can update this option directly when creating or editing a rule.

After you decide on your conditions and actions, the final step is to select your schedule for when the automations should take effect. You can choose from different timeframes using the dropdown menu, select the dayparting option or run with a date range.
