Schedule daily budget changes
Budget Scheduler lets you set different daily budgets for selected future dates. It is available only for budget allocation groups that use a daily cap.
Scheduling is useful when you want a different budget on specific promotional or seasonal dates, such as a weekend push, without manually editing the allocation group each time.
Before you begin
Confirm that the budget allocation group uses a daily cap. Budget Scheduler is not available for monthly-cap allocation groups. For more information, see About daily and monthly caps.
Open Budget Scheduler
You can open Budget Scheduler from the Budget Schedule column in the Budget Allocation table.
- Open the Budget Allocation page.
- Select the campaign group that contains the allocation group.
- Find the allocation group in the table.
- In the Budget Schedule column, click:
- + Schedule if the allocation group does not have a schedule.
- The edit icon beside Active if one or more schedules already exist.
The Add Budget Schedules drawer opens. The drawer heading shows the number of schedules created for the allocation group. If no schedules exist, the drawer shows no schedules and the following message: You have not created scheduled budget updates yet.
Click + Schedule to create the first schedule.
If schedules already exist, they appear as separate rows. You can click + Schedule to add another.
Create a budget schedule
Each schedule contains:
- A Daily budget amount.
- One or more dates when that amount should apply.
To create a schedule:
- Open the Add Budget Schedules drawer.
- Click + Schedule.
- Enter the amount in the Daily budget field.
- Select the date field.
- Select one or more future dates.
- Review the selected amount and dates.
- Save the schedule.
The daily budget field uses the budget allocation group’s currency.
Only future dates can be selected and selected dates appear in the date field so you can review them before saving.
You cannot create more than one schedule for the same date. After a date is used in a schedule, it is unavailable when creating another schedule.
Edit a budget schedule
You can edit a schedule if its selected date or dates have not passed.
- Open the Add Budget Schedules drawer.
- Find the schedule you want to change.
- Click the edit option for that row.
- Change the Daily budget amount or selected dates.
- Click Update.
Clicking the edit option unlocks the schedule fields and displays the Update and Delete buttons.
Delete a budget schedule
You can delete an upcoming or past schedule.
- Open the Add Budget Schedules drawer.
- Find the schedule you want to remove.
- Click the edit option if the schedule is still editable.
- Click Delete.
A confirmation message appears:
Are you sure to remove this budget scheduler from the Budget Allocation?
Select Continue to delete the schedule or Cancel to keep it.
Manage past schedules
After all dates assigned to a schedule have passed, its row becomes inactive and read-only.
It’s not possible to change the Daily budget amount, change the dates or update the schedule. However, you can still delete the schedule.
