Read the performance metrics

Top Advertisers shows four metrics for every app in the ranking. Together, they tell you how visible an app is in Apple Ads, how broadly it is bidding, and where it sits in the wider competitive landscape.

  • Apple Ads Visibility Score: A measure of how prominent the app’s paid presence is across Apple Ads.
  • Total Paid Keywords: The total number of keywords the app is bidding on across Apple Ads.
  • Category Ranking: The app’s rank within its App Store category, with arrows indicating recent movement.
  • Overall Ranking: The app’s rank across all categories, with arrows indicating recent movement.

How to read the metrics together

  • A high visibility score with many paid keywords suggests an app is investing broadly in Apple Ads.
  • A high visibility score with relatively few paid keywords often signals a focused strategy concentrated on high-value terms.
  • A strong category ranking combined with a lower overall ranking shows the app is dominant in its space but not at the very top of the market.
