Read the Free, Paid, and Grossing losers charts
Biggest Losers displays three ranking columns side by side: Free, Paid, and Grossing. Each column shows the apps that have dropped the most positions in that chart over the selected period, sorted by the size of their rank decline.
The three chart columns
- Free: Apps with the largest downward rank movement in the free chart.
- Paid: Apps with the largest downward rank movement in the paid chart.
- Grossing: Apps with the largest downward rank movement in the grossing chart.
What each app entry shows
Each entry in the chart includes:
- The app’s current rank position.
- The number of positions lost, shown as a red downward arrow with the drop count.
- The previous rank position, shown below the drop indicator.
- The app icon, name, developer, average rating, and category.
How to read rank drops
The red number next to each app indicates how many positions it has moved between its starting and current ranks. For example, an app currently ranked 3 with a drop of 207 was ranked 210 at the start of the period. A larger drop number means a more dramatic decline, not necessarily a lower current rank.
What to look for
- A competitor dropping sharply can signal an opportunity to move in on their keywords or categories.
- An app losing ground after a recent update may be experiencing a negative user reaction worth monitoring.
- Consistent drops over multiple days in Smart Sort can indicate a sustained structural decline rather than a short-term blip.
