Permission types in Apple Ads Integration
During the integration process, you choose the level of access you want to grant the Apple Ads CMP to your Apple Ads account. This page explains each permission type, what it enables and restricts, and who it is best suited for.

Account Read and Write
This is the recommended permission level. It grants the Apple Ads CMP both read and write access to all campaign groups within your Apple Ads account.
With this permission level, you can:
- Use advanced tools such as smart bidding, automations, and budget allocation
- Make updates, create campaigns and ad groups, and add keywords directly through the CMP without switching back to the native Apple Ads interface
- Have new campaign groups synced to the CMP automatically when account-level access is granted
This option is best suited for UA managers responsible for end-to-end campaign management who want to handle all optimization from a single platform.
Account Read Only
This permission level provides read-only access to all campaign groups in your Apple Ads account.
With this permission level, you can:
- View performance data
- Export reports
- Use the platform's advanced filtering and viewing capabilities
With this permission level, you cannot use smart tools, bidding strategies, or campaign optimization features.
This option is best suited for UA managers who plan to use the platform primarily for monitoring and reporting.
Limited Access
This permission level allows you to grant access to selected campaign groups only. For each selected campaign group, you assign a role of either Read Only or Read and Write.
When you select Limited Access, you choose which campaign groups to grant access to, and then set the access level for those groups. Make sure to list all campaign groups that need to be accessible by the Apple Ads CMP.
This option is best suited for agencies or large organizations managing multiple campaign groups, where different teams or users are responsible for specific campaign groups and need clearly defined access boundaries.
Key points to keep in mind
There are two important requirements that apply regardless of which permission type you choose:
- You need to have admin-level permission in Apple Ads to grant access to the Apple Ads CMP.
- To take any actions on campaigns through the platform, including managing bids, budgets, and automations, you must grant Account Read and Write access to the campaign groups you want to manage. If you choose Limited Access, make sure all relevant campaign groups are included.
Changing your permission type
If you want to change the permission type of an existing integration, recreate the integration with the intended permissions and then delete the old one.
