Edit, pause, resume, or delete a budget allocation group

You can manage an existing budget allocation group from the Budget Allocation table and its Details page. You can update selected settings, pause or resume budget distribution, or permanently delete the allocation group.

Open a budget allocation

  1. Open the Budget Allocation page.
  2. Select the campaign group that contains the allocation group.
  3. Find the allocation group in the table.
  4. Click the details icon at the end of its row.

The Budget Allocation Details page opens.

The Overview section shows a read-only summary of the allocation group, including:

  • App
  • KPI
  • Goal
  • Number of included campaigns
  • daily budget
  • Cap type
  • Budget Schedule status

Hover over the campaign count to view the names of included campaigns. The MobileAction platform eshows up to 10 campaign names. If the allocation group contains more than 10 campaigns, it shows the first 10 names and the number of additional campaigns.

The Budget Schedule field shows:

  • The number of schedules created for a daily-cap allocation group.
  • No schedule when a daily-cap allocation group has no schedules.
  • N/A when the allocation group uses a monthly cap.

Click Back to return to the main Budget Allocation page.

You can edit the following:

  • Budget Allocation Name
  • Cap type
  • Included campaigns
  • daily budget

Keep in mind that you cannot edit App, KPI or Attribution settings.

These settings are locked when the allocation group is created. To use a different app, KPI, or attribution setup, create a new allocation group. See Create a budget allocation group.

If you try to leave the Edit page with unsaved changes, the platform asks you to confirm before leaving.

Add or remove campaigns

You can change the included campaigns while the allocation is running or paused.

  1. Open the allocation group’s Details page.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Open the campaign selector.
  4. Add or remove campaigns.
  5. Save your changes.

The following rules apply:

  • At least one campaign must remain in the allocation group.
  • You cannot save an allocation group with zero campaigns.
  • Available campaigns must belong to the same app and campaign group as the allocation group.
  • A campaign cannot be added if it already belongs to another running or paused budget allocation group.

Change the cap type

You can switch between a daily cap and a monthly cap while the allocation group is running or paused.

  1. Open the allocation group’s Details page.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Change the cap type.
  4. Save your changes.

When you switch from a daily cap to a monthly cap and a budget schedule exists, the platform warns you that the schedule will be reset.

Keep in mind!

Monthly-cap allocation groups do not support Budget Scheduler. For more information about cap behavior, see About daily and monthly caps.

Update the daily budget

  1. Open the allocation group’s Details page.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Enter the new amount in the daily budget.
  4. Save your changes.

The new daily budget takes effect the following day; it does not take effect immediately. The amount must meet the minimum required for the campaigns included in the allocation group.

If the amount is below the required minimum, you’ll see this message:

The total daily budget cannot be updated. You cannot enter a daily budget that is less than the sum of max Default CPT bids (<default cpt bid amount>).

In this case, increase the amount before saving.

For information about how the minimum is calculated, see About minimum daily budgets and bid safeguards.

Pause an allocation group

Pausing an allocation group stops budget distribution across its campaigns.

  1. Find the running allocation group in the Budget Allocation table.
  2. Turn off the toggle in the Status column.
  3. Confirm that you want to pause the allocation group.

After confirmation, the platform shows a message confirming that the allocation group has been paused. The allocation group’s status changes from Running to Paused.

Resume an allocation group

  1. Find the paused allocation group in the Budget Allocation table.
  2. Turn on the toggle in the Status column.

The allocation group resumes immediately. The MobileAction platform does not ask for confirmation, and the status changes from Paused to Running.

You can filter the table to show only:

  • Running allocations
  • Paused allocations

For more information about the table, see View Budget Allocation performance and status.

Delete an allocation group

You can delete an allocation group while it is running or paused.

  1. Open the allocation group’s Details page.
  2. Select the delete option.
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the allocation group.

Keep in mind!

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. After the allocation group is deleted, MobileAction returns you to the main Budget Allocation page.
