# About Biggest Movers
Biggest Movers is a ranking intelligence tool that surfaces the apps that have climbed the most positions in the App Store and Google Play Store over a selected period. It covers the Free, Paid, and Grossing charts and lets you measure rank gains over a single day or a custom date window.
### What Biggest Movers shows you
For each app in the ranking, Biggest Movers shows the current rank position, the number of positions gained (highlighted in green), the previous rank position, and basic app metadata including name, developer, rating, and category. The charts are sorted by size of gain, so the apps that climbed the furthest appear at the top.
### Normal Sort vs Smart Sort
Biggest Movers offers two sorting modes. Normal Sort measures gains from the previous day to the selected end date, giving you a daily snapshot of what surged most sharply. Smart Sort measures gains across a custom date range using a Start Date and End Date, letting you identify apps with sustained upward momentum rather than single-day spikes.
When to use Biggest Movers
- Catch a competitor climbing fast and investigate what is driving their surge before it compounds.
- Monitor your own app’s ranking momentum following a launch, update, or campaign.
- Identify new entrants gaining traction in your category before they become a significant competitive threat.
- Use Smart Sort to find apps on a sustained multi-week climb that may represent a structural shift in the market.
